Daily Inspiration – DIY Canvas Photo Transfer

Monday, July 16th, 2012

I have to admit that every weekend there is a Pinterest project getting done over here. To the point that some of my friends are calling me Martha Stewart. I think it’s funny, then I participate in a Pinterest challenge and realize that there is plenty of you out there like me.  How fun! Anyways, today’s DIY is pretty simple. I totally got inspired after seeing this great tutorial by Elsie @ A Beautiful Mess. I immediately knew I would have to try it. She created a great canvas using Instagram pics. I wanted to make a canvas with some of my favorite pictures from this Thrift Shop visit. I have to admit, it can get addicting. Mod Podge is too much fun!

The steps are simple. Use a picture the same size of your canvas (mine was 8×10). Using the Mod Podge, adhere it to the canvas. For a special finish once it’s dry, paint the border of the canvas with Black acrylic paint. That’s it! You will have your very own canvas in minutes. The possibilities are endless.

Are you a fan of Mod Podge? Share your projects! Also, before I forget, you can now find us on Instagram at “inspirationnook”.

Hope you get inspired!

Did you print the picture on regular computer paper or photo paper?

Can i use styrofoam instead of canvas?

I’m not sure. I know some people have used wood too instead but not sure how it will be with Styrofoam. Mood Podge works with almost everything, I would give it a try, just remember you want your picture to come out as flat as possible, not sure if the texture of the Styrofoam will come through.
