Daily Inspiration – Refinished Mid-Century Dressers

Tuesday, November 11th, 2014

Ladies and gents I present to you my very first furniture refinishing project. After lots of hours and days reading all different types of “how to’s” I went for it. The search was on for the best mid-century dresser I could find. After visiting numerous goodwill stores with no luck, I turned to my trusty old friend…”Craigslist”. After losing out one dresser, I had lost all hope. How was I going to find another one? Then, a few days after taking a break from all the madness, I decided to take a quick look on Craigslist before going to bed and there they were, not one, but two great dressers calling our names. They were two for the price of one so I knew immediately this was meant to be HA! I had the most fun working on them on a weekend between football games and meals in on our garage (the perks of living in the Midwest, I now have space for these types of projects). The mister loved what I did so it was a win all around. After a week of letting them dry out, we brought them into their new home and I can’t stop smiling. Have you refinished old furniture before? Isn’t it awesome? On to the next one!

Daily Inspiration – Recycled Cans DIY

Friday, November 7th, 2014

I was itching to create something from these cans I saved while cooking dinner the other night. Enter this cute little DIY. I used craft paint, cute chalkboard labels (from the dollar bin from Target, yeah!) and to finish I filled them up with pretty dry flowers from our wedding. It doesn’t get more special than that! The possibilities are endless with these. Fresh flowers will look amazing too. Cannot wait to make some more. I love using recycled materials. What do you think? Would you give it a try?

Daily Inspiration – Lake Monona

Monday, October 20th, 2014

Well well well, look who’s back. Yes, it’s me! I am still alive. If you have been following us on Instagram (@inspirationnook) you might have noticed some changes the last few weeks. The mister and I are officially newlyweds living in the beautiful Midwest! I am excited to explore our new city and share some pictures along the way. It’s the best way I truly know how. Hope you guys are doing great too, what have you been up to? I’ve been enjoying this beautiful “real” Fall outside my windows. It has been an adjustment not seeing Palm trees everywhere but I really wouldn’t change it for the world. I will continue to stop by here every now and then. For now follow along on instagram and let the new adventures begin! To kick things off take a look at the amazing Lake Monona, I snapped these pics while taking a little walk with our pup. It was the most gorgeous Fall day.

Daily Inspiration – Haim Live!

Thursday, August 14th, 2014

Hello world! How is it going? Crazy busy? Yeah, me too! Just stopping by to share a little bit about the best concert I’ve been to this year. I got tickets on pre-sale thanks to a password I was given from a friend and it was the best thing that could’ve happen. Tickets were gone in less than two hours so I felt like I had just won the lottery or something. HAIM has been one of my faves ever since they were on SNL last year. I got their record for Xmas and it’s constantly played in our home. The show was at the Wiltern which is already a pretty sick (in a good way) venue. Ok, back to the concert, the lights, their mixes, their performance, the music. It was the Best.Show. Ever! It really made me wish I had sisters and I knew how to play instruments besides just the tambourine (which I don’t think it really counts, Ha!) If you ever have the chance to see these ladies live, do it! Your mind will be blown. Check out some of their music here if you haven’t yet and let me know what you think. Happy almost Friday friends.
