This has to be by far one of my favorite projects ever. From working together with the mister, to making a space that fits both our needs and style. As long as we can remember our home office/guest room had always been used as a guest room/storage space. It was time for a change and we were both up for the challenge. We brainstormed some ideas and then we made the big decision… we will build our own desk! The first thing that came to my mind was John & Sherry’s desk from Young House Love. See below.
I had followed their whole thought process last year & I knew it would be fun to make our own. I Just never thought we would do the same. We also looked at this great tutorial over at Aubrey and Lindsay’s blog and we were sold. Look at theirs below…
Aren’t those two desks enough to convince you? We though it was the best thing we could do to take advantage of our little space. Our room also had a “Green Bay Packer’s Green” on the walls (a very dark green) so there was lots of priming and painting to do. Of course, I forgot to take a picture of the “green room” before starting because I was so pumped. I decided to create a “Chevron” accent wall (the mister agreed, yes I still pinch myself) Call me crazy, but I love painting. So while one of us was painting the other one was on “desk” duty.
Who am I kidding? I stayed on painting duty the whole time.
We tackled this whole project in a weekend, we were both super sore but it was all worth it. We now have a special room that we made our own. There is built-in storage in the cabinets we used for the desk which helps keep it all organized. There is also a special place for my grandpa’s typewriter. Well, enough talking… take a look!
Can you tell why this is my favorite project? Have you built your own desk? Have you done a chevron style wall too?
Hope you get inspired!
Augh! It deleted my comment!
